Hill Country Miniatures Museum

"MouseScapes"

The Artist. Juliane Smith is an artist inspired by imagination. She delights in sharing her creativity through settings of rich detail. Like a storybook, each setting tells her unique stories, taking us back in time. Ranging from a lovely ‘winter wonderland’ to an ivy-covered treehouse, home to many small creatures, you can discover the fun of imagination, right here in Alamo Springs, a backwoods Texan community near historic Fredericksburg.

The Museum. Featuring Mousescapes, the Witches’ School, and Santa’s Home & Workshop by local artist Juliane Smith, the Museum houses a large collection of amazingly detailed miniature scenes and domes, Muffy’s Home, the Nutcracker, dolls, and antique toys. Four of the miniature scenes decorated Tiffany’s windows in Houston two different Christmas seasons. The Museum has a gallery featuring some of Juliane’s unique multi-media, multi-dimensional paintings. Painting, art classes, and miniatures workshops and art can be arranged for 2-4 people in the Bird & Parrots Room & Green House next to the Museum.

The Museum is located midway between Fredericksburg and Comfort (14 miles in either direction) near the Old Railroad Tunnel State Park – “in the country” on 52 acres. The Alamo Springs Café (2 miles from the Museum) offers one of the ”Best hamburgers in Texas” as well as breakfast and dinner.

Visits to the Museum must be pre-scheduled as it is
not “open to the public at large”. A guest house above the Museum is a large apartment with full kitchen available to miniaturists for a minimum of two overnights ($105/night) and includes a guided tour of the Miniatures Museum by Juliane. A 1-bedroom/bath guest room is also available adjacent to the Museum.
